Danny January 2012
I was attached to the Rifles during H14. I ended up being casivac'd back to Bastion.
Unfortunately I didn't have time to pack an overnight bag! I would just love to thank your team for all your support and please keep up the fantastic work. Kind Regards
Danny.
Edward (The Rifles) January 2012
I'd just like to convey my sincere thanks to you in sending so many invaluable essential items to me at QE Hospital, Birmingham. When I was admitted I had nothing with me, having left all of my kit behind in Afghanistan and your generosity did wonders to keep me feeling human after my surgery.
Major Ian Cheeseman RLC Officer Commanding Patient Support Services. December 2011
As I leave Patient Support Services after 4 years and indeed the Army after 33years I wish to personally thank you for the valued service you have given to the wounded and injured and also for the wonderful support you have shown to me during my tenure at the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine. It has been a privilege to work with you for the lads. You have created a wonderful charity and service.
Cheryl (Mother of a very seriously injured soldier) November 2011
Troop Aid preserve the dignity of many a wounded troop and spare the blushes of the wonderful nurses in Queen Elizabeth hospital. Providing clothing and toiletries for troops casivaced out of Afghanistan with absolutley NO personal belongings. They are absolutley amazing our son was even given boxers and t shirts with velcro seams so we could dress him over his drain tubes and pumps.
Michelle Parkin November 2011
I do not have the words to thank troop aid enough, when my son was in hospital they supplied him with so much, what a fantastic charity!!!
The Rt Hon Philip Hammond MP November 2011
I would like to thank your charity for the work that it is doing in bringing additional comfort to Service personnel who have been hospitalised following injury on operations. I have no doubt that the provision of those basic, yet essential items is greatly appreciated.
From Michael October 2011
Last month, my 19 year old cousin was very seriously injured on his second day of his military tour in Afghanistan. He has lost part of both his legs, shattered his pelvis and has serious internal injuries. He is being treated in Hospital in Birmingham, where he is likely to be for several months. Then he will go for extensive rehabilitation to Surrey, where he will be fitted with prosthetic legs. As you can imagine, our family have been devastated by his injuries. The reason I'm telling you all this is that me and my family have so much to thank you for as you have supported him in ways I can't explain.

From Sandra whose son was injured in Afghanistan September 2011
Please support this cause all you can ... its a great thing these people do !!!
John came home with nothing and was provided with everything he needed, which is a great help when the families do not know what time of day it is. You get tunnel vision, where ..why ..how..are they really ok...what will I find!

We would like to thank Troop Aid for their kindness. Our son was injured in March this year and Troop Aid were the first to give our son equipment that would help him, with there grab bag.
We knew nothing about the charities that help our soldiers until we visited Birmingham Hospital, they are truly amazing and this is why we are fund raising so we can support them.
Myself, my husband and family with a group of friends aim to try and collect up till xmas with different events. Hopefully we can reach a good total for them.
a BIG thank you Troop Aid.
Steve July 2011
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.' Matthew 25 v35-36. We wish you God's blessing on your work.
Yours Steve
Carol Baker of Birmingham May 2011
On Friday I met a soldier wounded in Afghan. He was dressed from head to toe in items supplied by Troop Aid (as he had nothing and is based in Germany). He also has a phone to use - this also supplied by Troop Aid. His Troop Aid pack had a letter from a child and he was so grateful for everything the charity does to help them when they are injured.
A grateful 1 Mercian Wife March 2011
I had never heard of Troop Aid until my husband was injured in Afghanistan last year.
He was injured on the Thursday, flown straight to Bastion Hospital for an operation, then casevaced back to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham on the Sunday.
I'd packed a bag of clothes for him, amid panic and crazy emotions, trying to think what he would need.
Little did I know he would already have everything he needed on arrival in the UK, all thanks to Troop Aid.
Both my husband and I were pleasantly surprised to find people were thinking of all the injured troops. Having a mobile phone in his grab bag made things so much easier for us during his stay in hospital, it allowed us to speak at night whilst I stayed in a nearby hotel and speak to worried family members back home.
Everything in his grab bag made him smile, from flip flops to a t-shirt…so Thank you.
A grateful 1 Mercian Wife xx

Just left comment on your grab bag page. Didn't know about you til my son caught a bad one on Saturday in Sangin. He's in 40 Co RM and had a sniper try to take him down. He's a big lad and fought on providing covering fire (he's a LM gunner) for mates and then getting himself down off a roof with a massive gunshot to chest. Been unconcious for 6 days since. He's VSI in Selly Oak Intensive Care but think we're through the worst and me and his Mum really appreciated the grab bag. Anything I can do to help publicise I will mention you on Radio 5 tonight. I'm doing a quick bit for Tony Livesey.
See you're just in Solihull. Looks like I'll be a near neighbour for few weeks.

A Mum says thank you August 2010
My son came back from Afghanistan and he was injured but received one of your bags and loved it. The T shirt is ace and he wears it nearly every day. He was picked by helicoper and sent to Selly Oak, although not badly injured just walking wounded. He took hold of your T shirt and bag and didn't let go for a couple of days. He keeps having me washing it so he can wear it again and again. Thank you so much. It made him feel part of something when he came home. Please keep up the good work. Thank you from a Mum.
Dean and Lorraine Jackson (Boston Lincolnshire) 29 May 2010
Just wanted to say a huge thanks to Troop Aid for the Grab Bag our son recieved whilst in Selly Oak Hospital. We will certainly be raising some money to help other people in the same position as us. Thankfully after a worrying few weeks our son is now on the mend and able to make full use of the Grab Bag.
Mark & Tracey (Telford Shropshire) 30 April 2010

I am a member of The Home Service Association, a group of 'Old & Bold' whose AGM was addressed by Al Sutton during our week end at Swynnerton Training Camp. A couple of our members are volunteers for Troopaid so we decided that we would allow them to raise money. I am proud to say that 56 of us managed over £500.00. Many of our members are 'Cold War Warriors' so missed the horrors that our current troops are suffering but we all feel a closeness to them and wanted to show our support. I feel proud to have helped in some small way and pray that my 'Grab Bag' will comfort someone and let them know they are not forgoten and we do appreciat what they are doing in OUR name.Troopaid KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

Hi, I work for the Big Lottery Fund and I recently met a group of Arnhem WW2 veterans who challenged me to undertake a task and raise some money for Troop Aid. On the day the nice folk from Troop Aid came to support us all as did the Bedworth Association of the Parachute Regiment. To find out more, take a look at my blog and ITV video.......

Just read the shocking article in today's Sun newspaper about the abuse Matthew Weston suffered at the hands of yobs. Have so much respect for all our armed forces putting themselves in harms way. Keep up the fine work...
